Why is a curriculum so important?

Curriculum is important in an educational system. It helps one plan the education process or procedure for a given period of time (a term, session, lesson period etc) For a society to achieve its educational goals, it needs a curriculum that is functional and relevant to its needs. An evidenced-based curriculum acts as a road map for organizations and students to follow on the path to academic success. It makes progress and attainment measurable and comparable on a national scale. That way, under performance can be dealt with and success can be modeled and shared.
